Merry Christmas to all our clients and colleagues: see our 2025 roundup here
December 2025
Merry Christmas to our valued clients and colleagues. We are looking forward to a restful break over the festive period to recharge ahead of next year. 2025 has been an excellent year for Aspect and we have conducted more surveys than ever before. Having crunched our numbers, in 2025:
- 225 Dormouse surveys were completed, deploying 2,700 tubes (a 97% increase on the number of Dormouse surveys conducted last year)
- 555 reptile surveys were completed, deploying 10,484 artificial refugia (a 57% increase on the number of refugia we deployed last year)
- 344 bat surveys were completed, of which 229 were activity surveys and 115 were emergence/re-entry roost surveys (an 18% increase on the number of bat surveys conducted last year). In 2025 we deployed static bat detectors 516 times, hand-held detectors 1,203 times and IR cameras 808 times.
- 35 Great Crested Newt population surveys were completed (alongside many more eDNA presence/absence surveys), during which 999 bottle traps were deployed (a 46% increase on the number of population surveys conducted last year)
With thanks to all of our clients who commissioned us to carry out this work and supported us on the ground during the surveys.
Instead of sending Christmas cards, this year we have made donations to our chosen charities: Shelter, Katherine House Hospice (Oxfordshire) and the Banbury Foodbank.
We look forward to working with you in 2026. Merry Christmas from all of us at Aspect Ecology.
Please note our offices will be closed from lunchtime 24th December 2025 to 2nd January 2026.
