With the election now settled and a swift Brexit assured, developers should gear up to deliver Biodiversity Net Gain across their sites. This is mandated within the Environment Bill which will pass on the heels of Brexit.

In the meantime, consultation on the new Defra 2.0 metric, which will inform biodiversity net gain calculations, remains open until February 2020. There are some 30 questions being asked and it will be interesting to see how the final metric takes the feedback provided on board.
