Aspect Ecology are very proud to have been part of the project team for an award winning scheme at the City of London Freemen’s School, Surrey.
The City of London Freemen’s School’s new swimming pool building overcame heritage, landscape and ecological sensitivities, achieving completion in 2017.
The original swimming pool burnt down and therefore had to be replaced. The opportunity was taken to locate the new pool further away from the Grade II listed house. A location was chosen that is closer to other sports facilities. The sensitive location within the Green Belt created challenges but these were successfully overcome resulting in an award winning building. The development celebrates triple success within RIBA’s 2018 awards. The pool wins the RIBA South East Client of the Year and RIBA South East Sustainability awards, and also a national award in recognition of its significant contribution to architecture.
More information on the scheme can be found here on the RIBA website.
