Project: Proposed 7.8MW Ground Mounted Solar Farm,

Roanhead Farm, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria.

Client: Kinetica Solar Ltd

Aspect Landscape Planning Ltd developed the layout alongside the client and team members, undertook the Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA) and prepared a number of photomontages to support the planning application of the ground mounted solar farm scheme along with associated infrastructure and landscaping. The scheme aims to generate up to 7.8MW of electricity on agricultural land at Roanhead Farm, Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria. The LVIA and montages successfully illustrated the proposed scheme within context to the wider landscape setting.

The scheme retains the existing boundary landscape features and included new native hedgerow planting to reinforce selected field boundaries and ensured the proposals could be successfully integrated within the landscape setting.

Fully detailed landscape proposals were also prepared in order to discharge landscape related conditions, and which seek to ensure ongoing long term landscape and biodiversity enhancements are created.

Planning Issues:Sustainable development within the open countryside; landscape and visual impact from elevated ground, National Trust site and Public Right of Way Network; Government’s aims and objectives to encourage provision of renewable energy.
